The artificial lung

The PM-80-70 brushless drive consists of the PM-80 permanent magnet synchronous motor and a control module based on the DSP-processor. The given electric drive, equipped with a high-resolution encoder, provides high dynamic characteristics at start-stops and wide range of speed control (D=100). The Ksena-010 artificial lungs, produced by the Peredovyye meditsinskiye tekhnologii company (Moscow, Russia), are filled with the PM-80-70 electric drives.

Application of the PM-80-70 brushless drive let the manufacturers of the artificial lung stop using intermediate power gears between the electric drive and the air pump and start using a direct drive. As a result the equipment configuration was simplified and its reliability was improved.
